You play an instrument, which means you are a musical athlete. Learn to stretch, strengthen, and activate muscles particular to your instrument.
This one hour Zoom workshop will cover:
How to counter-stretch for your instrument
Self testing to assess which muscles may be overworking
Tension release techniques
Strengthening to support to neck and shoulder alignment
Stretching in an asymmetrical way to maintain greater balance
Common causes of repetitive stress injuries
Do and don’ts for anatomy of hands, wrists, forearms, shoulders and neck
Suggested donation sliding scale $20-40, no one turned away for lack of funds. Class size is limited to 25 people.
To register you will be asked to include your instrument, note any particular pain points or diagnoses, and what your current body maintenance or exercise routine consists of, if happen you have one.
About the Instructor: Aurora J. Raybin, MA, MFA, has worked with dancers, musicians and stunt performers for the past twelve years to address alignment, posture, and muscle activation. She is informed by a background in bodywork, dance, yoga, and release technique. A pragmatist, her approach is focused on what is achievable for students and performers.
